Anglo American South Africa and De Beers - Venetia, Musina, Limpopo in partnership with the Department of Basic Education have launched the Anglo American South African Education Programme, a core part of Anglo American’s Sustainable Mining Plan.
The goal of the Programme is to improve the educational outcomes of learners in communities local to De Beers-Venetia, Musina, Limpopo.
The JET Food Garden Initiative will coordinate the establishment of school food and nutrition gardens in AASA Primary Schools as well as helping to establish household food gardens in the local communities. These school food and nutrition gardens are aimed at supplementing the school food nutrition programme and to be used as outside classroom for curriculum integration.
JET seeks to appoint 1 x AASA PCILL Anglo School Food Gardens Facilitator local to De Beers-Venetia, Musina Limpopo who will facilitate and establish school food and nutrition gardens in all AASA Primary Schools as well as helping to establish household food gardens in the local communities. Duration of this contract is until December 2022. It might be renewable based on availability of funds and performance.
Responsibilities will include the following:
Job Description of AASA PCILL Anglo School Food Gardens Facilitator:
o Data management/Surveys with all schools;
o Assist schools to establish gardens;
o Assisting to establish household food gardens in the local communities;
o Follow up and provide an update to the PC on the progress of the school food and nutrition gardens;
o Assist schools to take care of the gardens;
o Ensure tools are locked up with the assistance of the school gardeners;
o Facilitators should visits all schools at least 2 times a month/in BU’s where there are 17 schools this should be alternated to ensure that all schools are visited 2 times ;
o Facilitators should assist schools with their gardens the full day
o Facilitators should assist to take care of the school gardens during the school holidays’;
o Work collaboratively with the JPI Provincial Coordinator;
o Develop and maintain a working relationship with all stakeholders (to enable co-operation, collaboration &
efficient flow of Communication).
Selection Criteria:
• Diploma or Certificate with at least 5 years’ experience;
• Be competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point required for submitting reports;
• Be able to build relationships and communicate effectively;
• Be able to work well with teachers, learners and gardeners’;
• Be available on weekdays, during school hours and afternoons, as well as certain Saturdays and Holidays;
• Be passionate about gardening;
• Be able to work in the gardens e.g. planting, watering, etc.;
• Be able to manage the school food and nutrition garden tools;
• Be flexible to travel and visit all primary schools regularly;
• Be open to the use of innovative methods to establish thriving school food and nutrition gardens;
• Be able to report to the Anglo School Food Gardens Provincial Coordinator on the progress of the gardens.
• Must have a South African ID or a valid work permit

**The selected candidate will receive an annual salary of R 200 000 p.a. with a monthly travel allowance.
